Trane Leader Named ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award Winner

PISCATAWAY, N.J., April 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Trane Applications Engineering Manager Mick Schwedler is being honored with a Distinguished Service Award by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). The award recognizes members who have served the society faithfully and with distinction. It will be presented to Schwedler at ASHRAE's annual meeting on June 21 in Salt Lake City.

Schwedler has been an active member of the society for more than 20 years. He was instrumental in helping update the ASHRAE Energy Standard for Buildings except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, Standard 90.1, and is now the chair of the project committee for the standard. This ASHRAE standard represents an objective consensus of the building industry and serves as the basis for many local energy building codes throughout the United States.

Schwedler also has served ASHRAE as chair of Technical Committee 1.5 on Computer Applications, and as a member of the Professional Development Committee. He is a contributor to the "ASHRAE GreenGuide: The Design, Construction and Operation of Sustainable Buildings, 2nd edition."
