Seminole Electric Cooperative Makes Management Changes at Seminole Generating Station in Putnam County, FL

TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Seminole Generating Station employee Brenda Atkins has just gained some power -- about 1300 megawatts. Effective February 25, Atkins replaces the station's retiring Director of Plant Operations, Paul Shipskie.

Also changing responsibilities are long time station employees James Woodall, named to the position of Assistant Director of Plant Operations; Bobby Payne, named Plant Operations Manager; and Ken Hart, Plant Maintenance Manager.

The Seminole Generating Station is located in Putnam County, in northeast Florida. Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc., which operates the plant, is the wholesale power supplier that serves 10 Florida electric distribution cooperatives. Those member systems together serve more than 900,000 customers across 46 Florida counties. Seminole Generating Station is the primary resource that meets the majority of the members' energy needs.

Atkins most recently served as the Station's Manager of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Training. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Berry College in Georgia. Joe Welborn, Senior Vice President of Operations, says that Atkins' environmental expertise meshes well with Seminole's commitment to environmental stewardship.

"As environmental regulations continue to be strengthened, Seminole takes increasing pride in its excellent compliance record," noted Welborn. "We expect that to continue under Brenda's leadership."

In excess of $300 million currently is being invested in facility upgrades at the Station to meet new environmental requirements and to ensure continued good environmental stewardship.
