Bermuda Congratulates Masters Champion Trevor Immelman as the First to Qualify for The 2008 PGA Grand Slam of Golf

HAMILTON, Bermuda, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- It was just over one week ago that Masters Champion, Trevor Immelman not only garnered the coveted green jacket, he also became the first to qualify for The PGA Grand Slam of Golf, the season-ending showcase featuring golf's premier foursome. Returning to Bermuda for its second time, the high-stakes tournament will once again be held at Bermuda's exclusive Mid-Ocean Club and hosted by The Fairmont Southampton on Oct. 13-15, 2008.

Played for the first time out of the United States, The PGA Grand Slam of Golf concluded its 25th edition, Oct. 17, 2007 with U.S. Open Champion Angel Cabrera defeating British Open Champion Padraig Harrington in a three-hole playoff at Mid Ocean Club.

The remaining three spots for this year's competition will be determined at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, Calif., June 12-15, 2008; British Open at Royal Birkdale in Lancashire, England, July 17-20, 2008; and the 90th PGA Championship at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township, Mich., Aug. 7-10, 2008.

Established in 1979, the PGA Grand Slam of Golf has grown from an 18-hole, single-day charity event to a 36-hole annual showdown that matches professional golf's best against each other.

PGA Grand Slam Week begins Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, with the Champions Clinic and Pro-Am. The Champions Clinic features the major Champions demonstrating various golf skills and insight on how they execute their shots. The clinic will be televised by Golf Channel. The Pro-Am features amateur groups composed of Officials, VIPs and guests of The PGA of America, TNT and Bermuda, who play alongside the major Champions.

This year's purse for the PGA Grand Slam of Golf is $1.35 million, with the winner receiving $600,000; second place $300,000; third place $250,000; and fourth place $200,000.
