Carol Dillon Kissal Nominated to Serve as SBA Inspector General

WASHINGTON, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Carol Dillon Kissal has been nominated by President Bush to serve as Inspector General for the U.S. Small Business Administration, it was announced today.

Kissal currently serves as a deputy director for the District of Columbia Department of Transportation. She previously served as the corporate treasurer for AMTRAK in Washington, D.C. Before joining AMTRAK, she was a program financial analyst with IBM in New York City. A Maryland resident, Kissal received a master's degree in business administration from Pace University in White Plains, N.Y., and a bachelor's in business management from Dominican College in Bardonia, N.Y.

Kissal's nomination will be subject to a hearing before the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship committee, and the Senate's consent.

"Carol Dillon Kissal comes to the SBA with a solid senior level finance and management background. She comes highly recommended and her areas of expertise are very relevant to the opportunities and challenges the SBA faces," said SBA Administrator Steve Preston. The Office of Inspector General is responsible for conducting independent reviews, audits and investigations of all SBA programs and participants in order to prevent fraud and abuse. The office also recommends ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of SBA's programs and operations. Kissal is nominated to replace Eric Thorson, who is nominated to assume the Inspector General role at the Department of the Treasury.
