INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Village Pantry has completed the first reload transaction as part of the MasterCard rePower Load Network, a new service that allows consumers to add money to eligible MasterCard or Maestro branded prepaid cards at participating merchant locations.
Village Pantry, a division of Marsh Supermarkets, worked with technology provider InComm to become the first merchant to join the rePower network.
"Village Pantry is constantly looking for ways to provide our customers with extra value and convenience," said Kent Raphael, Vice President of Merchandising for Village Pantry. "Joining the rePower Load Network means that we can offer reload services to more customers than ever before."
InComm and Village Pantry will soon be launching the new service at the rest of Village Pantry's 148 locations in Indiana and Ohio.
MasterCard rePower allows MasterCard-branded prepaid cardholders to easily add money to their eligible prepaid accounts at participating retail locations, bringing a valuable service to the millions of financially "underserved" individuals in the United States. Prepaid cards have emerged as a key enabler of allowing those without a banking history to forge a relationship with a financial institution and better manage their money.
MasterCard selected technology provider InComm as the program manager for their efforts to expand the reload network across the United States. InComm is working with a number of national and regional merchants to become part of the rePower network.
