New Cure for the Football Hangover: FLW Fantasy Fishing(TM)

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- When the big championship football game is over, Americans start to suffer from the inevitable post-season football hangover -- no more football games on TV, no more fantasy football teams, no more online mania. Now, sports fans can look to the next big kickoff -- the start of FLW Fantasy Fishing(TM) season, offering anyone the opportunity to enter for their chance to land the catch of a lifetime with a guaranteed $7.3 million in cash and prizes.

"There's no better cure for the football hangover than creating your own fantasy fishing team and entering for the chance to win the $1 million in cash grand prize, plus hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of prizes including a Yamaha ATV, BRP personal watercraft and thousands of other fantastic prizes," says Irwin Jacobs, founder of FLW Outdoors(R), creators of FLW Fantasy Fishing.

FLW Fantasy Fishing mirrors the hugely popular sport of professional angling, which annually attracts more than 50 million professional anglers who compete for millions upon millions in cash and prizes. Now, fantasy sports fans can catch the fun by creating their own fantasy fishing teams and competing to win enormous prizes on par with the pros.

The fantasy-fishing season kicks off February 28 in conjunction with the beginning of the Wal-Mart(TM) FLW Tour(R) on Lake Toho in Kissimmee, Fla. and culminates August 14-17 at the prestigious Forrest Wood Cup in Columbia, S.C. FLW Fantasy Fishing fans can follow the angling action throughout the season along with charismatic wrestling and television star Hulk Hogan, who will provide his own brand of colorful commentary at FLW Outdoors pro angling events and on fantasyfishing.com.

Consisting of seven events, FLW Fantasy Fishing duplicates the Wal-Mart FLW Tour schedule that includes six regular season tournaments and the Forrest Wood Cup. Each lucrative tournament allows participants to create and rank their own pro angler team of ten anglers they think will place the highest in the next Wal-Mart FLW Tour event with the chance to win cash prizes, plus boats, vehicles, ATVs, personal watercrafts, gift cards and much more, all building up to the championship tournament, the Forrest Wood Cup. The participant who earns the most cumulative points over the seven events will win the $1 million cash grand prize, guaranteed.

FLW Fantasy Fishing participants earn points based on their fantasy-fishing team of ten anglers' placement finishes for each tournament in the Wal-Mart FLW Tour. Each of the six regular season tournaments will award $100,000 to the participant with the most points. Another $100,000 will go to the participant with the most points in the Forrest Wood Cup. The $1 million cash grand prize then goes to the cumulative-points-winner over all six regular season tournaments and the Forrest Wood Cup.

Participants can log onto fantasyfishing.com to enter. FLW Fantasy Fishing also allows participants to set up their own leagues.
