The 2007 Tavistock Cup Teams Announced

ORLANDO, Fla., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Let the battle begin. Team Captains Mark O'Meara and Ernie Els will lead a who's who of international golf stars into the 2007 Tavistock Cup presented by The Citigroup Private Bank.

Recognized as the World Golf and Country Club Championship, the Tavistock Cup will be held Monday and Tuesday, March 26 and 27 at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. This year, the players will vie for a cash and prize purse of over $2.6 million and team hole-in-one prizes such as Cadillac Escalades and Correct Craft Air Nautique boats.

Playing for more than bragging rights and the purse, Tavistock Cup will raise the stakes this year by awarding an additional $1 million to charity on behalf of the winning team, with each player on the winning team directing $100,000 to charities of their choice. This support brings the event's four-year charitable contribution to over $2.5 million.

Ernie Els returns as playing captain of the 10-member Lake Nona team. His teammates include Ben Curtis, Chris DiMarco, Retief Goosen, Trevor Immelman, Graeme McDowell, Mark McNulty, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson. Stenson and DiMarco are making their Tavistock Cup debut.

Mark O'Meara returns as playing captain for Isleworth and is joined by teammates Robert Allenby, Stuart Appleby, John Cook, Scott Hoch, Charles Howell III, Lee Janzen, Nick O'Hern, Craig Parry and Tiger Woods. O'Hern is making his Tavistock Cup debut.

"This is the deepest field yet," said Andy Odenbach, tournament director of the Tavistock Cup. "All one needs to do is look at the World Golf Rankings to understand just how good these guys are playing right now. We have 12 of the world's top 31 golfers in our field this year."

This year's rematch will be televised live in the U.S. on The Golf Channel and to over 40 countries around the globe through a network of international affiliates.

Tavistock Cup team members are determined by world ranking and committee selection. The playing professional members of Isleworth and Lake Nona have won 43 major championships and boast over 600 career worldwide victories.
