International Soccer Stars Tapped to Train Student Athletes

Olympic Gold Medallists Join Cause; Project G.O.A.L.S. Coming to South Jersey

International Soccer Stars Tapped to Train Student Athletes

MOORESTOWN, N.J., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Heather Mitts, Briana Scurry, Christie Pearce Rampone and Jennifer Grubb are just a few of the soccer athletes who have joined the All-Star Staff of Project G.O.A.L.S., which today launches its South Jersey Summer 2006 event.

A collaborative effort designed to provide essential training to female athletes, Project G.O.A.L.S. (Girls Opting Against Ligament Surgery), is dedicated to reducing athletic injuries by providing accuracy, action and accessibility to female athletes ages 11-18.

"Never before has such an impressive training team been assembled with a clear focus on reducing injuries through education," states Project G.O.A.L.S. Director Todd Brown. "By harnessing the abilities, knowledge and experience of the best minds in the business, we provide female athletes, the most accurate, action-oriented techniques to reduce the risk of injury while playing more effectively."

With more than one in 70 female athletes injured each year, reconstruction and rehabilitation of ACL injuries has soared to a $700 million industry.

"I wish I had the opportunity to attend an event such as this as a middle school or high school player," states Olympic Gold Medallist and Project G.O.A.L.S. instructor Christie Pearce Rampone, herself a victim of ACL injury.

A hands-on event occurring over 3 days in a different city each year, Project G.O.A.L.S. sets a new standard within commonly thought of student athlete camps by providing essential, world-class training designed to help female students play safer, then better.

In addition to soccer star players, G.O.A.L.S. recruited international scientists, researchers, professors, coaches and exercise specialists to create the most comprehensive offering possible.

Earlier this month, the Project G.O.A.L.S. site survey team narrowed their location selection to South Jersey. Today, Project G.O.A.L.S. announces that its August 4-6 event will be held at Moorestown Friends High School. For more information, visit http://www.projectgoals.com/.
