BRIDGEPORT, Mich., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Amigo Mobility, a leading manufacturer of mobility products, and Amerityre Corporation (NASDAQ: AMTY) , a manufacturer of polyurethane tires and tire products, are pleased to announce Amerityre's Flatfree(TM) polyurethane tires will be featured as original equipment on the Amigo Mobility SmartShopper. It is estimated that Amerityre will initially supply Amigo Mobility with approximately 25,000 tires per year.
"We are very happy to be working with Amerityre," said Amigo Mobility President and Founder Al Thieme. "Amerityre shares our business ideals -- they are environmentally friendly and believe in producing high quality goods that are made in America." "Amerityre's Flatfree(TM) tires currently used on our Amigo SmartShoppers have demonstrated stellar performance under daily heavy-duty use in retail environments. The Amerityre polyurethane foam tires provide a smoother, more comfortable ride and reduce the overall weight of the Amigo by four pounds," added Thieme.
This year Amigo Mobility International, Inc., based in Bridgeport, Michigan, celebrates 40 years in business. Since its inception, Amigo has been "improving lives through mobility" with innovative and customized mobility solutions.
The first Amigo, a battery operated "vehicle," was built in 1968 by Al Thieme, then owner of his own plumbing and heating contracting business. The idea for this product came from Thieme's personal motivation to help a family member with limited mobility due to multiple sclerosis. The Amigo soon gained popularity as more and more people were able to regain their mobility and personal independence through its use. Thus, Amigo Mobility International, Inc. was founded, and an entire industry was born.
Amigo has expanded its operations from Thieme's garage to its current headquarters, occupying nearly 34,000 square feet of space in Bridgeport, Michigan. In 1981, Thieme was awarded one of the most prestigious awards in small business -- The United States Small Business Person of the Year.
Today, the Amigo name is synonymous with USA-made quality and user-friendly features. Amigo designs and manufactures a complete line of power-operated vehicles and accessories and continues as an innovative force in the mobility industry.
Amerityre CEO, Dr. Gary Benninger, said, "We are honored at being selected as the original equipment tire supplier by industry leader Amigo Mobility and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship."
Amerityre is actively engaged in the development of revolutionary new polyurethane tire technologies. Amerityre is commercializing its technologies through sale of tires and tire products, licensing agreements with strategic partners, co-development projects and the sale of equipment and its proprietary chemical formulations.
