Multiplan Expands to Brazil's Northeast with the Construction of a New Mall in Maceio in Partnership with Aliansce

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MULTIPLAN EMPREENDIMENTOS IMOBILIARIOS S.A ("MULTIPLAN") (Bovespa: MULT3), the largest shopping mall company in Brazil in terms of revenue, aligned with its strategy of maximizing its shareholders' return, informs that it has formed a partnership with Aliansce Shopping Centers S.A to construct Shopping Maceio, located on Av. Gustavo Paiva, in the city of Maceio in the state of Alagoas.

The project consists of a shopping mall with approximately 36,000 sq. m. of gross leasable area (GLA). Multiplan's share of the development will be 50%, management being shared with Aliansce.

Total investments are estimated at R$166 million, but this figure is still subject to review and alignment with the requirements of the municipal authorities.

Opening is scheduled for the second half of 2010 and the project's unleveraged nominal internal rate of return is expected to exceed 20% p.a.
