EASYTAXFIX.COM Launches Website to Assist Homeowners File Property Tax Appeals

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- EasyTaxFix announced today that it has launched a web-based service to assist homeowners file their property tax appeals. Site visitors enter their respective property addresses and see instantly whether a property appeal will result in savings. If savings are indicated, the user sees a preliminary valuation (per the county requirements) and has the opportunity to refine and personalize the valuation. The site then automatically completes the county appeal application per this valuation. The user prints and mails the appeal application along with the valuation to the County Assessor.

"If you purchased a home in the last few years, as I did, your property's value has likely tanked. Your property taxes are based on your purchase price and do not automatically adjust when market values decline. This means you are likely overpaying your property taxes," said Adam Berkson, president of EasyTaxFix. "Based on our research approximately 1 in 4 properties are currently over-assessed in San Diego. Our goal is to make property owners aware of this and to make it easy for them to file the necessary property tax appeals."

The concept started in early 2008 when Adam Berkson put his house on the market and realized that his property's market price was over one-hundred-thousand dollars lower than where the property was assessed by the county. Adam then spent the next few days researching what had to be done to reduce his property taxes in light of housing market conditions. The appeal application obtained from the County contained a bunch of requirements and instructional fine print. In addition, comparable sales were required, but foreclosures and short sale data could not be obtained easily. The EasyTaxFix web-based concept was born.
