WASHINGTON, March 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Alliance for Marriage Foundation (AFMF) today launched a new and unprecedented effort to unite the vast majority of Americans who support defining marriage in law as between a man and woman. The new campaign will specifically focus on reaching out to Hispanic, African-American, Catholics, Jewish and other voters who want to uphold the values and benefits of traditional marriage.

A recent national poll showed 64% of registered voters oppose same sex "marriage," outnumbering supporters by more than two to one.(1) The campaign will rely heavily on the growing influence of Hispanic Americans, who will rally for marriage at an AFM-sponsored event in Denver during the Democrat National Convention this August.

"While the movement to protect marriage is strong today, it must become a lasting force in American politics. To prevail, we must weld the strong parts of our coalition together, so that marriage and its unquestionable benefits for our children and our society continue to top our national agenda. Our 'Many Voices, One Mission' campaign will cross racial, ethnic and religious lines, and its durability is essential for our success," said Sam Rodriguez, President of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, and a key leader in the campaign.
