COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Focus on the Family Analyst for Sexual Health Linda Klepacki issued the following statement today in response to the recent Guttmacher Institute study that found 95 percent of those surveyed had engaged in premarital sex:
"The findings of this Guttmacher study should be closely scrutinized -- and not taken as justification for engaging in premarital sex. The fact that 95 percent of the respondents admitted to having sex prior to marriage does not imply that such behavior is safe or wise. By way of comparison, the fact that a majority of Americans are overweight or obese does not lead public- health officials to abandon efforts to encourage balanced diets and exercise programs.
"This is the condom cartel's attempt at normalizing out-of-wedlock sexual behavior. This is one in a series of documents that is designed to set the battle lines for January's congressional battles over sex education. We must expect abstinence-only education to be attached with renewed vehemence in the Democrat-controlled Congress. We will continue to advocate for public-health policies based on the most effective risk-elimination method -- abstinence until and faithfulness within marriage -- and parents should demand nothing less for their children."
