Jacobs Receives Independent Consultant Contract from AERI

PASADENA, Calif., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today it's subsidiary, Jacobs Consultancy Inc., received a contract to provide study services including technology evaluation, cost estimating, project development, and project management to the Alberta Energy Research Institute (AERI) in Canada.

Officials did not disclose the contract value.

The Province of Alberta has committed funds over the next five years to develop and demonstrate clean upgrading technologies as they apply to hydrocarbons such as oil sands, coal, and petroleum coke to sustainably develop Alberta's vast resources. The HUDP combines the efforts and investments of the public and private sectors to focus on developing key technologies to address environmental challenges.

This award follows Jacobs Consultancy's previous work for AERI and a consortium of seven Alberta companies to provide a feasibility study comparing various upgrading technologies.

AERI Executive Director Dr. Eddy Isaacs stated, "As the energy technology arm of the Alberta Government, the Alberta Energy Research Institute or AERI is working with oil sands companies and process developers to develop and demonstrate next generation upgrading technologies. Jacobs Consultancy is a key contributor to the success of this initiative. In the initial phase, Jacobs provided unique expertise, knowledge of upgrading, and the use of highly advanced tools to evaluate and recommend promising technologies. As we move towards the demonstration stage for selected technologies and continue to identify and evaluate new and emerging technologies, we look forward to continuing the excellent relationship with the Jacobs team."
