Defense Contractor Selects Lithium Technology Corporation to Power Mobile Security Robots

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lithium Technology Corporation ("LTC") (OTC: LTHU) , a global provider of large lithium-ion rechargeable power solutions, announced today that its wholly owned German subsidiary GAIA Akkumulatorenwerke GmbH received a purchase order from leading robotics company and defense contractor, Robowatch Technologies, the value totalling over euro 380,000, the equivalent of $483,000 U.S. dollars.

In 2005, Robowatch Technologies contracted LTC's subsidiary to develop a lithium-ion battery system to power mobile security robots. The prototypes were extremely successful, and, as a result, Robowatch incorporated the batteries into their production units. LTC will supply the subsequent order of 148 batteries for two different robot models, which will be delivered by December 2006. Two different capacity batteries are being supplied for these models; both are nominal 24 Volts and have capacities of 27Ah and 60Ah. LTC's battery technology allows the robot eight hours of autonomy from external power sources within stringent weight and size constraints for the battery.

The Robowatch security models utilizing LTC's technology run on tracks and have the ability to climb stairs. The robots have the option of being equipped with a variety of sensors such as radar, passive infrared and gas sensors and are designed to report any intruder or other disturbances to a base station. Applications for these robots range from securing sites and buildings to national security. These robot models were used to secure Berlin's Olympic Stadium during the 2006 World Soccer Championship in Germany.

"This project is a prime example of our loyalty to our customers by working closely and prudently with them to develop first-rate, tailored energy solutions," commented Dr. Klaus Brandt, executive vice president of LTC and managing director of GAIA, a subsidiary of LTC. "We are committed to our customers every step of the way, from the drawing boards to final operational testing, and with our leading edge technology we deliver solutions they can rely on."
