American Trucking Assns President to Address LA Area Chamber of Commerce

ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Trucking Associations President and CEO Bill Graves will discuss the bold environmental and safety initiatives of the trucking industry as well as the essential role that trucking plays in the U.S. economy at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce January 22.

The presentation, which is open to press, will highlight the trucking industry's environmental sustainability program initiatives to reduce fuel consumption, emissions and combat global climate change with innovative reductions in CO2 emissions.

Also on the agenda is a discussion of ATA's highway safety agenda designed to further reduce the number of highway-related fatalities and injuries for all drivers on the nation's highways.

America's Road Team Captains, professional truck drivers with millions of miles of accident free driving and exemplary safety records, will be on site along with ATA's new image trailer, which showcases the industry's sustainability and safety efforts.

Bill Graves is President and CEO of American Trucking Associations, the national trade and safety organization of the United States trucking industry. Through its 50 affiliated state trucking associations, conferences and other organizations, it represents motor carriers before all branches of the government.

Under his leadership, ATA has proposed requiring that all new heavy trucks be equipped with speed limiters and supports a government proposal to test the use of onboard recorders.

In January 2003, Graves completed 22 years of public service in the state of Kansas highlighted by two terms as Governor of Kansas. He was reelected to his second term with the largest percentage of votes in Kansas history.
