Bored of Chocolate and Flowers, Baffled Girl Seeks V-Day Advice

NEW YORK, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- As Valentine's Day looms, the romantically-challenged are beginning to sweat. For many, the question is how to find someone worth falling for. But for one twenty-something woman, it's how to spark romance without the predictable props.

"Okay everyone," writes a user with the screen name 'lorimer' on recently- launched Baffld.com. "There's a guy I like at work, and I think he likes me, but nothing has happened between us ... So I'm thinking I want to make some kind of move on Valentine's Day, but there's got to be a better way than chocolate and flowers! And me in lingerie isn't going to happen, because this will start (but maybe not finish?) at work. So what should I do?? Help!"

Lorimer's pleas caught the attention of the site's owners, who decided to turn the quest into a contest.

"Her story is so timely," says Emily Weil, founder of NYC-based Baffld.com. "And we figured a prize for the best answer will help get the crowd fired up."

Tapping into the wisdom of crowds is what Baffld is all about. Focused on love and romance, Baffld is a next-generation advice site. Any visitor to the site can ask a personal question, and then the community writes responses and votes on answers.

The person who provides the best answer to the "no more chocolate and flowers" challenge will receive a 105 minute head-to-toe massage at any Bliss Spa in the country. "After all," says Weil, "Valentine's Day can be stressful."

As for answers already coming in, "lorimer" is currently getting a wide range of advice. One response, which involves a romantic scavenger hunt, has received high praise from the crowd. Another answer suggests an entirely different touchdown strategy.

"Instead of using makeup," writes one would-be cupid, "try painting your face in New York Giants colors. Few guys can resist that these days."
