American Commercial Lines Inc. Announces $100 Million Order

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLI) ("ACL" or the "Company") today announced that it has entered into a six year, approximately $100 million, multi-vessel contract with a major customer, to build both liquid and dry cargo barges. Construction will begin in 2008.

Commenting on the order, Jerry Linzey, ACL Chief Operating Officer stated, "This agreement reflects our commitment to grow within existing markets, supports our strategic manufacturing goals, and fully leverages the manufacturing capacity of the shipyard."
