Kate Beckinsale Reveals Her Racy Side in the July Issue of Allure On Newsstands Now

NEW YORK, July 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Cover Story: "KATE'S EXPECTATIONS" (Page 170)

She's a thoughtful brunette in a city of empty-headed blondes, a literary type in an industry that values the written word about as much as cigarette ash. Learn more about this smashing success in the July issue of Allure.

"The Bottom Line": The Newest Machines and Lotions to Fight Cellulite (Page 156)

Nearly 90 percent of women are plagued with cellulite. On the quest for a cure, consumers spent nearly $94 million on firming/anti-cellulite body care in 2005, up from just $30 million in 2000, according to Euromonitor.

To help women determine what's right for them, in the July issue of Allure, experts weigh in on everything from a pill containing such trendy ingredients as fish oil and ginkgo biloba to more aggressive strategies that attack the problem with heat, light, or massage.

However, since women have an insatiable desire to cure this unsightly problem, and are willing to try just about anything, Allure also educates women on the risky and dangerous options such as Subcision and Mesotherapy.

"The Girls From Ipanema" (Page 146)

    beauty.

    Italy).
  - 92 percent of Brazilians think that to be sexy is a necessary component
of beauty; whereas in the United States, only 39% believe sexiness is
    important to beauty.
  - 72 percent of Brazilian women believe spiritual fulfillment is vital to
    true beauty.
  - 71 percent of Brazilian women believe financial success is necessary for
    true beauty.

  Mood News (Page 114)
  - A Legal Mood Lifter: Researchers are investigating a new antidepressant
and pain reliever that works like marijuana, without the illegal side
effects. Currently called URB597 -- it raises levels of
endocannabinoids, the brain's own marijuana-like chemicals that trigger
feelings of well-being. The drug balances mood- and stress-regulating
brain chemicals such as serotonin as effectively as existing
antidepressants -- and doesn't cause intoxication.
  - Seeing the Light: Psychologists at Arizona State University have found
that visual aids deter tanners more than words. Subjects were shown
images of once-avid tanners who developed melanoma, young sun-damaged
faces, and celebrities in the 1970s through the '90s, focusing on the
fact that tans became less popular. After seeing these images, the
subjects felt significantly more susceptible to sun damage, more apt to
equate untanned skin with beauty, and more likely to use sunscreen.
