GO Airport Shuttle Suggests Memorial Day Excursions

CHICAGO, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Memorial Day is usually the jump-start of summer travel, where families fly off for a three-day weekend of fun -- but it is also a time to honor Americans who have given to their country in times of war.

    -- Honolulu, Hawaii, USS Arizona National Memorial: On December 7, 1941,
       Japanese planes attacked Pearl Harbor, sinking a dozen American ships,
       including the USS Arizona. The event brought the U.S. into World
       War II.
    -- New Orleans, La., National World War II Museum: Designated by Congress
       as America's official World War II museum, this attraction combines
       interactive displays, videos and stories documenting that period.
    -- Arlington, Va., Arlington National Cemetery: More than 245,000 people
       are interred at Arlington, including soldiers of all American wars,
       past presidents and former slaves.
    -- New York, NY, Ground Zero:  This memorial (under construction) will pay
       tribute to those who were killed in the terrorist attacks of 9/11. It
       reflects the awe-inspiring compassion shown in the aftermath and
       creates a place for learning about terrorism and its deep effect on
       today's society.
    -- Kansas City, Mo., The National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial:
       Opened in 2007, this is the first and only American museum solely
       dedicated to preserving objects, history and personal experiences of
       Work War I.  More than 50,000 artifacts are displayed.
    -- Danville, Ca, Port Chicago Naval Magazine National Memorial: This site
       of recognizes a massive explosion occurring July 17, 1944, when
       munitions ships loaded for the Pacific Theater blew up, killing 320
       men.
