"With the increasing calls from analysts and enterprises for better approaches to endpoint security, whitelisting technology is red-hot and Harry Sverdlove couldn't have joined at a better time," said Patrick Morley, president and CEO of Bit9. "His professional background with best-of-breed IT and security companies will serve Bit9 well as we continue building our reputation for innovation in the application whitelisting space."

Sverdlove specializes in developing proprietary and scalable techniques to test Web sites, including advanced exploit detection and download analysis. His systems for detecting browser-based security exploits have been used to evaluate the safety of millions of Web sites.

Most recently, Sverdlove served as Principal Research Scientist for McAfee, Inc., where he supervised the overall architecture of crawlers, spam detectors and link analyzers. Sverdlove joined McAfee through its 2006 acquisition of SiteAdvisor Inc., where he worked as Chief Scientist to develop systems for testing, detecting and analyzing any Windows-based application.

"Bit9 has already established itself as a leader in the application whitelisting space, helping enterprises control their endpoints from unauthorized and malicious software," said Sverdlove. "We are at a tipping point now, where there is more malware than good software and as a consequence, whitelisting is the future. I'm looking forward to continuing the company's history of innovation and moving Bit9 and application whitelisting to the forefront in the industry."

Sverdlove began his career at Lotus Development Corporation, developing and testing Lotus 1-2-3, before moving to PC Publishing as a software engineer. Sverdlove then spent five years at SQA, Inc., where he led quality assurance and development teams and was instrumental in the company's IPO and eventual acquisition by Rational Software Corporation. As Rational Software's Principal Architect, Sverdlove designed the core automation engine behind Rational Robot.

As Director of Engineering at NuMega Technologies, Sverdlove expanded the NuMega product line and helped manage the company's acquisition by Compuware Corporation. In conjunction with a senior engineering position at Active Endpoints, Inc., Sverdlove began an independent consultation practice focusing on Windows automation and spam detection. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. Demonstrations of the Bit9 Global Software Registry, Parity Enterprise Application Whitelisting solution, and more can be seen at the Microsoft Management Summit at the Venetian, April 28 - May 2, Las Vegas, Nevada.
