American Greetings Announces Security Measures to Further Protect Consumers

CLEVELAND, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Greetings announces the implementation of additional layers of security to help protect e-card recipients this Valentine's Day. AG Interactive, a division of American Greetings Corporation (NYSE: AM) , claims the new security procedures will provide additional authentication of their legitimate e-mails.

Launching just before Valentine's Day, one of the busiest times of year for the social expression industry, these new tools enable mail receivers, such as Internet Service Providers (ISPs), to check whether an e-card notification has been legitimately sent from one of American Greetings brands.

A DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) signature, along with other authentication practices, can dissuade illegitimate senders from sending harmful viruses using American Greetings' brand names. ISPs can use these authentication traits to identify suspicious e-mails and ultimately block them. These additional layers of security help to combat fraudulent e-mails and keep online consumers safe.
