BELLEVUE, Wash., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- LYNX Medical Systems (LYNX), a leading provider of emergency medicine documentation and revenue management solutions, today announced that Jeffery Wajda, DO, MS, FACEP, has been appointed to chair the newly formed Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) Subcommittee by ACEP. Dr. Wajda was selected for his leadership and expertise in physician and hospital pay-for-performance initiatives. This is the fourth National Coding Nomenclature Advisory Committee (CNAC) subcommittee formed by ACEP.
Under the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006 (TRHCA), a physician quality reporting system was established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This program, PQRI, created a financial incentive for eligible professionals to participate in a voluntary quality reporting program encouraging high quality, cost-effective care for Medicare beneficiaries. Currently, there are 74 unique measures with additional measures and financial incentives to be published by CMS in late 2007.
As chair, Dr. Wajda will lead other national CNAC committee members in representing the national ACEP membership. The CNAC PQRI subcommittee will provide member education, work to align hospital and professional quality initiatives and will represent ACEP members in the creation of new CMS PQRI quality measures.
Dr. Wajda serves as LYNX vice president of Clinical Services. He is responsible for clinical software and coding services product development, as well as representing the firm with clients and government agencies. He is a board certified emergency physician with more than 18 years of emergency medical experience and over 9 years of group/hospital management experience. Dr. Wajda also has extensive experience in compliance, billing and operational consulting. He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and a member of the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE).
