Actress Adamari Lopez to Participate in 2007 Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure

WASHINGTON, May 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Adamari Lopez, an award- winning actress and breast cancer survivor, announced today that she will participate in this year's 18th annual Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure.

Lopez will join 50,000 participants, including more than 3,000 other breast cancer survivors, for the annual 5K Race being held on Saturday, June 2nd on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

"I am committed to doing everything I can to further treatment, support and research efforts that assist women suffering from breast cancer and bring us one step closer to finding a cure," said Lopez.

Lopez' performances on stage and in films -- most notably in Puerto Rican and Mexican telenovelas including Amigas y Rivales and Mujer de Madera -- have won her widespread acclaim. Currently filming the telenovela Quiero Contigo, Lopez was featured on the cover of People En Espanol and has a large following in the local Hispanic community.

Adamari Lopez was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33 in early 2005 and underwent extensive treatment before the disease went into remission in early 2006. The actress is but one of almost 15,000 Hispanic women who are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
