VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AMERIGROUP Corporation (NYSE: AGP) today expanded its innovative healthcare program for low-income Americans with long-term illnesses or disabilities, bringing its AMERIPLUS program to San Antonio and Austin, Texas, and Cincinnati, Ohio. The Company also enlarged its existing AMERIPLUS program in the Houston, Texas, metropolitan area.

AMERIPLUS is available to low-income Americans who are chronically ill and are enrolled in a part of the Medicaid program serving the Aged, Blind or Disabled (ABD) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) populations. Texas is expanding a program that began in Houston 1998, known as STAR+PLUS. In Ohio, AMERIGROUP is participating in the initial formation of the State's managed care program to serve the ABD population. AMERIGROUP is a leader in addressing the needs of the ABD/SSI population and serving these individuals. Its entrance into Ohio on this product marks the seventh state in which the Company serves members through long-term disability programs.
