BETHESDA, Md., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association today announced the addition of seven new national Board members, rounding out a governing body comprised of leading medical, mental health and clinical specialists, adoption experts and patient advocates.
New RESOLVE Board members will serve a two-year term, and will help to direct the organization, which serves as the patient voice for family building and reproductive health issues. RESOLVE plays a vital role in providing education, advocacy and support for the 7.3 million American women and men suffering from infertility.
Joining RESOLVE's national Board of Directors are:
Susan Caughman, President, New Hope Media -- As the publisher of Adoptive Families magazine, Caughman is a long-time advocate of both domestic and international adoption and a frequent speaker on adoption and parenting adopted children; she is a former Time-Warner consumer marketing executive.
Marcelle I. Cedars, MD, Director, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology, University of California, San Francisco -- Dr. Cedars is a respected and widely-recognized leader in reproductive health. She is the recipient of numerous National Institute of Health (NIH) grants and has led investigations into such topics as ovarian aging, perimenopausal dysfunction and embryo freezing. She is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).
Alice D. Domar, PhD, Executive Director, Domar Center for Complementary Healthcare at Boston IVF -- Dr. Domar is a pioneer in the application of mind/body medicine to women's health issues. Her groundbreaking research focuses on the relationship between stress and different women's health conditions, and creating innovative programs to help women decrease physical and psychological symptoms, earning an international reputation as one of the country's top women's health experts.
Frank R. Dunau, retired financial executive -- Recently retired from Adage Capital Management, Mr. Dunau brings extensive financial management and fundraising experience to RESOLVE, and will help the organization focus on development activities. The Harvard University endowment has been among his clients. He and his wife Amy have been long-time supporters of RESOLVE and know first-hand the challenges of infertility.
David L. Keefe, MD, Chair, James M. Ingram, M.D. Professor and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of South Florida College of Medicine -- Dr. Keefe is one of the country's foremost experts in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and is an innovator in translating research into clinical applications. His research focuses on improving in vitro fertilization (IVF) success rates and understanding how age impacts female fertility. He is a frequent lecturer and author, a former Associate Editor of the international journal, Human Reproduction and a member of the Board of the Society for Advanced Reproductive Technologies (SART).
Deborah Rice, RN, Assistant Nursing Supervisor, Shady Grove Fertility Reproductive Science Center -- Deborah is a compassionate patient advocate and brings an important nursing perspective to the governance of RESOLVE, an organization founded by nurses more than three decades ago, before the introduction of IVF to the United States.
Richard T. Scott, Jr., MD, Medical Director, Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey and Clinical Professor, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School -- Dr. Scott is a board certified reproductive endocrinologist, embryologist, andrologist, and high complexity clinical laboratory director. He is a recognized leader in the areas of ovulation induction for assisted reproduction, implantation, ovarian reserve screening, and oocyte donation. He is an award-winning researcher who has spoken before leading medical and patient audiences around the world and has authored more than 200 scientific papers. In 2004 Dr. Scott received the Friend of RESOLVE Award for his achievements in reproductive medicine and patient advocacy.
