ANNAPOLIS, Md., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- InforMed, LLC, a leading health technology and medical management firm, announced today the arrival of Paul Gurny, MBA, MA to head up its quality practice and performance outcomes activities.
As Director of Quality Practice Outcomes, Mr. Gurny will enhance payor and provider performance measurement systems. In addition, he will support the assessment, design and implementation of strategies for community-based health plan solutions -- which currently represents one of InforMed's core market segments. He also will be supporting InforMed's medical management division, InforMed Medical Management Services, LLC.

Most recently, Paul Gurny served as the Deputy Secretary for Health Care Financing in the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene where he oversaw Maryland's Medicaid program.
Mr. Gurny also has served as technical advisor to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Standards and Quality Bureau. In addition, he worked in CMS's (formerly known as the Health Care Financing Administration's) Office of Research and Demonstrations where he evaluated managed care programs and patient-risk assessment strategies. While at CMS, Mr. Gurny was responsible for the design, administration, and evaluation of alternative payment systems for Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care organizations. During his tenure with the federal government, Mr. Gurny received a number of awards including the Department's highest award for research integrity.
Mr. Gurny holds a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in health care and a master's of science in finance, both from Loyola College in Baltimore.
