Healthcare Technology Firms to Integrate MDT's MD Coder Mobile Charge Capture With GCQ's Integrated Clinical Information System

Global Care Quest and Mobile Design Technologies Announce Strategic Agreement

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. and HOUSTON, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthcare technology developers Global Care Quest, Inc. (GCQ) and Mobile Design Technologies, Inc. (MDT) today announced a strategic agreement to integrate MDT's MD Coder mobile charge capture solution with GCQ's Integrated Clinical Information System (ICIS). The software will give physicians the ability to monitor patient notes, x-rays, vitals and other data as well as record and review patient charges from mobile handheld devices such as smartphones and PocketPCs.

"Today's physicians are highly mobile professionals so their patient data has to be mobile too," said Global Care Quest CEO Cleve Adams. "The addition of MDT's charge capture will be an important enhancement to our product as it helps us realize our goal of being able to put complete, up-to-the-minute patient information in the doctor's hand whether he's in the hospital, his office or on the road. With the ability to capture, submit and review charges, the ICIS/MD Coder integration allows GCQ to bridge the gap between the provider's in-patient activities and the back office financial operation."

ICIS is an advanced patient data aggregator and delivery system that lets doctors see all manners of information-lab results, medications, physician notes, x-rays, CAT scans, even real time vital signs from bedside monitoring equipment-on a desktop PC, display wall or handheld device such as a mobile smartphone or PDA. Pioneered by a team led by noted Neurosurgeon Neil Martin, ICIS recently completed a highly successful pilot at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles where the system is now used by more than 1,000 active physicians.

MD Coder is the industry's leading charge capture application and is used by thousands of physicians, healthcare providers and hospitals nationwide. Noted for its ease of use, comprehensive features and flexibility in both general and specialized medical billing applications, MD Coder has earned numerous kudos from industry pundits and users alike. The system is available for a broad variety of mobile devices including smartphones, PocketPCs and other handheld devices.

"It's an exciting thing when technology leaders and innovators work together," said Damon Spiegel, President and CEO of Mobile Design Technologies. "The integration of MD Coder with ICIS means users will get the benefit of two best-of-breed applications to help them help improve patient care while keeping healthcare costs under control. Collaborating with GCQ is simply another validating event in the mobile industry that mobile clinical applications and handheld charge capture applications are needed, sought after and here to stay."

A version of ICIS with MD Coder is expected to be released in mid 2006.
