LAS VEGAS, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The Palms Casino Resort, citing fan interest, today unveiled a new prop betting line for the 2008 NASCAR season. The new wager pits the Miller Lite Racing #2 car, driven by Kurt Busch, against the Budweiser #9 car, driven by Kasey Kahne, and involves their final positions in the points standings at the end of the 2008 NASCAR season. The Miller Lite car has been installed as an 8.5 position favorite over the Bud car.
"We've heard a lot of chatter from bettors in our casino over the past couple of years that they really like the option of betting on individual matchups between cars, particularly the Miller Lite and Bud cars," said Fred Crespi, the Palms' sportsbook director. "We decided this season we'd give those fans a betting choice in the 'Battle of the Beer Cars.'"
Last year, the Miller Lite car finished eight positions ahead of the Bud car, but with one new team and new driver combined with the full-time use of the Car of Tomorrow, there are more variables than usual to consider in setting the line for '08.
"We had to carefully consider the fact that the Miller Lite car is entering its third year with Kurt Busch behind the wheel and has some continuity in its team," added Crespi. "Contrast that with the fact that the Bud car is moving to a completely different team with a new manufacturer and driver in 2008 ... it was a tough line to get to."
In addition to being able to wager on the season-long points battle between the two beer cars, fans will also be able to bet weekly on the head-to-head matchup between them. The Palms will put on the board for each race during the season a prop bet between the Miller Lite and Bud cars.
