Phony PETA-Funded Physicians Group Exploits Tony Snow's Death to Advance Their Radical Agenda

WASHINGTON, July 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Center for Consumer Freedom Research Director David Martosko released the following statement in response to an animal rights advertisement being released under the guise of "The Cancer Project," an arm of the so-called Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM):

"The Cancer Project, an affiliate of the so-called 'Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine' - less than four percent of whom are actual physicians - is showing its true animal rights stripes. There's no room in our public discourse for activists who use phony food scares and real human suffering to force their extremist ideas on the public. Using the late Tony Snow as a political football before his family even had a chance to mourn him is callous, inhuman, and just what we've come to expect from the animal rights movement.

Consumers should listen to real nutritionists who often remind us that it's irresponsible to arbitrarily focus on just one food or another in public health discussions. For instance, eating tofu has recently been found to increase dementia, but PCRM certainly wouldn't consider that a compelling reason not to go vegetarian.

It is clear that this phony physicians committee should leave the dietary advice to some real doctors."
