NORWALK, Conn., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Bear Naked, Inc., the country's leading natural granola brand, has pledged to partner with the National Arbor Day Foundation to plant 50,000 new trees in two national forests damaged by fires in 2006. The program will officially kick off on Arbor Day, April 27, 2007.

Bear Naked has partnered with the National Arbor Day Foundation to preserve rebuild and restore America's damaged national forests. Keeping in line with Bear Naked's passion for active, outdoor living, the company's donation will support planting trees in the Sequoia National Forest in California and the Huron-Manistee National Forest in Michigan.

"The Bear Naked brand is very much about communicating our passion for living an active lifestyle and enjoying the great outdoors," said Bear Naked co-founder Brendan Synnott. "As a leader in all-natural food products and an ambassador for outdoor living, Bear Naked has a responsibility to support efforts to renew our national forests, and give all the gift of enjoying nature's playground."

Last year was one of the worst forest fire seasons on record. America lost more than 9.6 million acres of land, resulting in a need for planting millions of trees in national forests around the country.

"This pledge reinforces Bear Naked's continued commitment to supporting causes that maintain America's essential natural resources" said Kelly Flatley, Bear Naked's other co-founder. "As our company continues to grow, we are committed to furthering our contributions to the health and well-being of the planet and the outdoor spaces we all love to play in."

In support of this effort, the packaging on Bear Naked's granola products, including best-sellers Fruit and Nut, Peak Protein and Banana Nut, will highlight the company's support of replanting trees in forests devastated by fire, disease and/or natural disaster to call attention to the importance of replenishing the country's woodlands.

"We are grateful for Bear Naked's commitment and support. This generous donation helps take a proactive step in replanting America's forests," said John Rosenow, president of The National Arbor Day Foundation. "This contribution helps restore wildlife habitat, clean the air, protect soil and waterways, and restore these beautiful and valuable natural resources for the benefits of generations to come."

In addition to its efforts to plant trees, this summer, Bear Naked will launch its signature "Triple Crown Project," a partnership designed to help build, conserve and maintain America's three classic long-distance hiking trails: the Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail and Appalachian Trail. These initiatives are in line with the company's philosophy to "fuel your wild life" and promote natural, healthy lifestyles.
