McCain Publicizes Ongoing Commitment to Zero Grams Trans Fat with New York Times Ad

LISLE, Ill., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- McCain Foods, the world leader in french fries, publicized its ongoing commitment and leadership position in the removal of trans fat with a full-page ad in Sunday's N.Y./ Region edition of the New York Times.

Concurrent with the New York City Board of Health's decision to phase out trans fat from oils and products in restaurants, McCain is weighing in with the point of view that having food options with zero grams trans fat is good for everyone.

In February 2003, McCain Foods was the first manufacturer to change its full-line of retail consumer packaged frozen potato products to zero grams trans fat. The company continues to be a category innovator, creating 15 new zero grams trans fat products including Golden Crisp(TM), Babycakes(TM), Roasters(R) and Mash Bites(TM).

Today, all of McCain's retail french fry and potato products contain zero grams trans fat. Over 50 products currently sold in the foodservice sector by McCain are currently available with zero grams trans fat and all foodservice french fry and potato products will be zero grams trans fat in 12 months -- before the New York ban comes into effect.
