LAKEVILLE-MIDDLEBORO, Mass., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- There is nothing quite like the image of a beautiful sea of red cranberries floating in a watery bog against the backdrop of a brilliant blue sky -- now imagine it with skyscrapers? Ocean Spray is bringing the beauty of the cranberry harvest on a three-city tour with "Bogs Across America." New York, Chicago and Los Angeles will be celebrating this fall tradition first hand in November.
Thousands of cranberries and cranberry vines will make their journey from Ocean Spray bogs to their final destinations in three of America's largest cities. Third- and fourth-generation cranberry growers will showcase the fruit of their labor, while educating consumers on the taste, health and heritage of the cranberry.
During the "Bogs Across America" events, consumers are invited to lend a helping hand in the fight against hunger by helping Ocean Spray string together America's longest Cranberry Garland. In support of America's Second Harvest -- The Nation's Food Bank Network, the largest charitable hunger-relief organization in the U.S., Ocean Spray will give consumers the opportunity to make a donation at the bog events, with monies raised going directly to the local food banks in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Every person making a donation will receive faux cranberries to string on the Cranberry Garland, which will travel to all three cities.
Celebrity chefs are participating in the bog events by showcasing the versatility of the cranberry. Consumers will also receive samples of Ocean Spray products and copies of the "12-Months of Cranberry" booklet filled with recipes, cranberry facts, and craft ideas. To request a copy of the "12-Months of Cranberry" booklet in November, visit http://www.oceanspray.com/ or call Ocean Spray's Consumer Affairs line at 800-662-3263.
