History's David McKillop, Senior Vice President of Development and Programming said, "CINE's long track record of recognizing talent, often in the earliest stages of filmmakers' careers, sets it apart." Steven Spielberg, Stanley Nelson, Ken Burns, Mira Nair and Ron Howard, among many others, won CINE Golden Eagles early in their careers. McKillop added, "A CINE Golden Eagle provides not only moral support, but validation, within the industry, to emerging and established filmmakers. With our support, History hopes to help CINE celebrate and continue what it has done so well for so long -- promote the careers of film, television and new media professionals."

"We are thrilled to have this incredibly generous support from History, which is a provider of quality programming for this historic occasion in the CINE's life," said CINE Board President Donald Thoms. "The tremendous success of a channel like History inspires filmmakers everywhere, and CINE is proud to be associated with this organization. Their support is helping us celebrate our Golden Anniversary in a spectacular venue, the Newseum. Filmmakers deserve recognition, and we are delighted that History has enabled us to provide our filmmaking community with such a festive evening."

At the April 24 Gala, CINE will pay tribute to Edward James Olmos, award-winning actor and current star of the popular Sci-Fi series Battlestar Galactica, who will receive CINE's Lifetime Achievement Award, and Gwen Ifill, Senior Correspondent with the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, who will receive CINE's Trailblazer Award. The recognition of Olmos and Ifill will be the highlight of an evening that will include presentations to the recipients of CINE's Masters Award, along with highlights of the winning and nominated films.
