The first major laundry detergent recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency's "Design for the Environment" program, Purex(R) Natural Elements(TM), is committed to creating earth-friendly laundry solutions that are tough on stains but easy on your wallet. To educate consumers on the importance of eco-friendly living, Purex Natural Elements launched the PurexSavesGreen Web site on Earth Day where visitors could learn more about being earth-conscious, submit their own tips and create a "green" themed tee shirt.

More than 300,000 people visited the site to discover easy ways to go green at home.

"As a new mom, I am even more aware of the importance of preserving our environment, so I'm delighted to have teamed up with Purex Natural Elements," said Jaime Pressly. "Purex Natural Elements is not only easy on our planet, it's great on tough stains and a good value, something any mom can appreciate!"

To kick off the contest, Jaime Pressly along with other celebrities including Christie Brinkley, Glenn Close, Chevy Chase, Bette Midler, Martha Stewart, Andre Agassi, Billy Baldwin and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. designed tee shirts with green slogans for an online auction. The proceeds from the tee shirt auction benefit Earth Day Network, a non-profit organization that seeks to grow and diversify the environmental movement worldwide, and to mobilize it as the most effective vehicle for promoting a healthy, sustainable planet. At today's announcement Jaime Pressly presented the organization with a donation of $30,000 raised from the auction proceeds as well as from a generous donation from Purex Natural Elements.

The Barham's virtual shirt conveys the need to be friendly to the environment and choosing a natural laundry detergent is one of the first steps in making a positive change. Though the contest has concluded, visitors can still go to PurexSavesGreen.com to purchase the winning tee shirt and share and compare useful cleaning tips.

"This is amazing," said Melanie Barham. "I have used Purex for years because it is a great value and works wonders on stains but we never expected to win this contest. We are blown away!"

"We are pleased with the success of the PurexSavesGreen program," adds Kiem Ho, senior brand manager of Purex. "Our goal with this program was to educate consumers by providing an interactive space where they could share tips and learn more about easy ways to affect positive change in the environment. Change begins at home and we want to teach consumers that small ecological adjustments such as laundry detergent can make a difference."

Purex Natural Elements is a biodegradable laundry detergent with naturally-derived cleaning ingredients and is available in three unique, fresh scents made with natural fragrance extracts.
