Fialka Joins E&E, Leads Launch of ClimateWire News Service

WASHINGTON, March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Environment and Energy Publishing, LLC, the leading source for comprehensive, daily coverage of energy and environmental policy, today announced that veteran Wall Street Journal reporter John Fialka will lead the launch of E&E's newest daily information service, ClimateWire.

"We are thrilled that John will be the editor of our latest venture," said E&E editor-in-chief Kevin Braun. "John has an unmatched reputation for producing insightful stories about climate issues and bringing that experience and knowledge to ClimateWire will be a huge benefit for our readers."

ClimateWire (www.ClimateWire.net) launches on March 10 and is designed to provide top-tier coverage of national and global climate issues. Areas of focus will include U.S. state programs, U.S. federal legislation, the development of a post-Kyoto climate regime, Kyoto protocol implementation issues, natural resource effects from a changing climate and how corporations are adapting to a greenhouse gas constrained world. Other issues ClimateWire will tackle include: alternative energy finance, research and deployment; U.S. federal agency programs; and the science of climate change.

E&E Publishing has for 10 years provided policy insiders with the most timely, comprehensive coverage of energy and environmental matters, including climate change. But the massive growth of climate-related issues led E&E to conclude that a stand-alone publication on climate is needed to more fully and consistently cover the full range of climate news needed by E&E's readers.

"Our flagship publications, Greenwire and Environment & Energy Daily, will continue to cover climate and other energy and environmental issues as usual," said Braun. "ClimateWire will add range, depth and insight to our coverage of this critical area -- an area that will only grow in scope in coming years, as both a policy issue and an economic reality that will affect just about everyone."

E&E has made a number of moves in anticipation of the ClimateWire launch and the need to meet the global growth of energy and climate issues in general. In addition to hiring Fialka, E&E has recently established full-time bureaus in New York City and San Francisco to expand its news-gathering capacity. E&E has also added a senior writer in Europe and is expanding staff at its Capitol Hill headquarters.
