MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alternative Construction Technologies, Inc. (OTCBulletinBoard: ACCY) today announced that its ACTech(R) Panel has recently achieved inclusion in the California Integrated Waste Management Board's (CIWMB) Recycled-Content Product Directory (RCPD), including compliance with the State Agency Buy Recycled Campaign (SABRC). This listing assists state agencies and other public entities to comply with laws requiring them to purchase recycled, repairable, and durable goods. The ACTech(R) panel system earned its compliance by demonstrating that the steel used in its manufacture is composed of sixty-eight percent (68%) post-consumer (PC) recycled content (seventy-three percent [73%] total recycled content), easily exceeding the ten percent (10%) minimum PC content required to attain SABRC compliance. In addition, the formula for the rigid polyurethane foam, the other major panel component used in the panels, contains approximately nine percent (9%) recycled material.
The ACTech(R) panel system can play the leading role in the construction of "Green" buildings, EnergyStar-qualified homes, and LEED-certified buildings. The ease with which the materials may be recycled, in addition to its energy efficiency, recycled content, resistance to moisture, mildew and mold, resistance to insect infestation, and indoor air quality, all play an indispensable role in establishing ACTech's panel system as a best of class industry leader. "They are CFC- and HCFC-free", stated A.J. Francel, the company's COO. Mr. Francel went on to say, "Our aim is to become recognized by all the major endorsing and certifying organizations and agencies of the "e"-friendly revolution, as well as, gain entry to the billions of dollars now being spent by Federal, State, and Local governments on alternative materials."
To reduce the quantity and toxicity of waste in California, state law requires state agencies and other public entities to purchase recycled, repairable, and durable goods. One important aspect of the law states that these same agencies must buy recycled and re-usable products. California state law [Public Resources Code section 42600(d)] directs the CIWMB to maintain a directory of RCP vendors. This directory helps suppliers make potential consumers of RCP's aware of their products and services, and aids purchasers in locating qualified RCP suppliers. The RCPD also contains a section for California's State Agency Buy Recycled Campaign (SABRC), a joint effort between the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) and the Department of General Services (DGS) to implement state law [Public Contract Code (PCC) section 12153 et seq.] requiring state agencies to purchase products with recycled content. The law (PCC section 12205) also requires state agencies to obtain the recycled-content certification. If a product in the RCPD is listed as being SABRC-compliant, then state purchasers do not need to obtain separate recycled-content certification for that product. It complements the efforts of the Integrated Waste Management Act (AB 939, Sher, Chapter 1095, Statutes of 1989), which was enacted to reduce the amount of waste going to California's landfills.
Alternative Construction Technologies, Inc. (ACT) possesses a unique and patented construction technology called the ACTech(R) Panel System, which is used in the design and production of state of the art buildings in commercial, residential, industrial and modular building applications. Generically known as structural insulated panels (SIPs), ACT's revolutionary and efficient construction solution utilizes an inherently better galvanized steel "skin" SIP system to complete energy efficient, stronger, safer, faster, and more economical structure than conventional wood and brick based building products. The patented ACTech(R) Panel is environmentally-friendly and easier to construct with -- not only saving labor cost and cutting construction time, but also reducing recurring monthly heating and cooling energy bills by thirty to fifty percent (30-50%), and often more. Most importantly, the ACTech(R) Panel possesses disaster resistant strength and has tested stronger than conventional concrete block or wood frame construction. In hurricane projectile tests, the ACTech(R) Panel continues to meet the most stringent wind, projectile and uplift codes in the nation levied by the 2006 Florida Building Code. The ACTech(R) Panel System offers builders and consumers many competitive and comparative advantages of use due to its wide range of attributes. As this new construction technology gains awareness, or hurricane and tornado-prone states establish new building codes and rebuild from recent weather disasters, ACT believes its' products will be in greater demand. ACT has recently added complementary services including design, consulting, and construction through its various general contracting companies located in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
