New Horseshoe Casino Nears World Series of Poker(R) Circuit Event Entry Record

First Chicagoland Tournament in WSOP Circuit Event Draws Nearly 1,200 Entries

CHICAGO, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The new 500 million-dollar Horseshoe casino, just 20 minutes from downtown Chicago, today announced an impressive number of entrants at today's high-stakes action of the World Series of Poker(R) circuit event. The first No-Limit Hold 'em $345 buy-in circuit event drew 1,187 entries.

The 1,187 entrants neared the record set by Horseshoe Tunica casino in 2006 which drew 1,345.

Guests were staked outside The Venue waiting well before the official registration that began at 9:00 AM CT. 78 poker tables were quickly filled with guests inside the The Venue, Horseshoe's state-of-the-art entertainment center. Horseshoe staff promptly accommodated the overflow of participants in their poker room seating 22 extra tables.

World Series of Poker(R) at Horseshoe has a total of thirteen tournament events, with buy-ins ranging from $300 up to $5,000 for the no-limit Hold 'em finale. The winner of the $5,000 championship will win cash plus a seat to the World Series of Poker(R) Main Event, valued at $10,000, at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in summer 2009.
