EXTON, Pa., June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Hunt Auctions, Inc., a sports memorabilia auction company based in Exton, PA, will offer over 675 of the finest baseball memorabilia available at the MLB Live Auction at 2007 DHL All- Star FanFest on July 10th at Moscone West in San Francisco. The prize item in the auction is an autographed Babe Ruth game used bat attributed to his homerun in the championship-clinching Game 6 of the 1923 World Series, the first ever World Series won by the New York Yankees. It is expected to sell between $150,000-$250,000.
"With regard to condition, dating period, attribution to World Series use, and signature quality, this exemplar will stand as one of the most substantive bats of its type to have been offered at public auction," said David Hunt, president of Hunt Auctions. "DHL All-Star FanFest is a great opportunity for Hunt Auctions to showcase the wide range of items we have to offer during one of the biggest weeks of the year for baseball fans. The MLB Live Auction brings out the best fans and collectors in baseball and we are thrilled to accommodate them with this year's memorabilia, especially with a special item like the Ruth bat."
Other featured items up for bid are the original line up cards from the inaugural All-Star Game, played in 1933 in Chicago. Listing such legends as Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, and Grove, the historical batting orders were preserved by the grandson of 1933 All-Star coach Bill Mckechnie. This rare pair, valued at over $50,000, marks the beginning of 70+ years of All-Star Game memories. The auction also will include a panoramic photograph of the very first World Series held in 1903 ($30,000-$40,000) from the collection of the late Charlie Wagner, former Red Sox player, coach, and executive. The photo was taken in front of the Red Sox Huntington Avenue Grounds and pictures the Pittsburgh Pirates and inaugural champion Red Sox. Other Boston related memorabilia includes a Ted Williams game used road jersey from 1955 ($50,000-$70,000), a Ted Williams autographed game used bat from his final season in 1960 ($35,000- $45,000), and a rare 1913 Boston Garter Ty Cobb trading card ($40,000- $60,000).
Bay area sports fans will have the opportunity to bid on a 1958 Willie Mays home jersey from the first year the Giants played in San Francisco ($30,000-$40,000), and a bat used by Mays in the 1961 San Francisco All-Star game ($10,000-$15,000). Oakland Athletics memorabilia is well represented with a 1969 Reggie Jackson game used home jersey worn during a July three-homer game ($7,500-$10,000), and the 1989 Athletics' World Series Trophy ($3,000- $4,000).
For the third consecutive year, Hunt Auctions will also conduct a variety of auction related activities during DHL All-Star FanFest prior to the live auction. Silent auctions will be held daily featuring modern era items for less than $1,000. Bidding for the silent auction will be exclusive to attendees of 2007 DHL All-Star FanFest.
