Bice's Florist Awards Scholarships to Fort Worth Area Graduates

Two graduating seniors from Dallas/Fort Worth area high schools have won the first-ever Bice's Florist Scholarships. Winners were required to rank academically in the top 20 places in their graduating classes, be active in their communities and submit winning essays.

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Caroline Sisco, Grapevine High School, and Elizabeth Kinsey, Colleyville Heritage High School, are the first recipients of the newly created Bice's Florist Scholarships, presented to graduating seniors in the Fort Worth/Dallas Metroplex who meet high standards of academic performance and community service.

Bice's Florist President Keith Riewe made the presentations at awards ceremonies at the two schools. "Education is a top priority at Bice's," Riewe said. "Recognizing these highly qualified students with financial grants not only helps them, it pays dividends to the entire Fort Worth area, which is enriched by their academic performance and community service."

Janice Kane, executive director of the Grapevine Colleyville Education Foundation, said community support is critical to maintaining high academic standards. Sisco and Kinsey each received $500 grants to apply to college studies as they see fit. To qualify, each had to be in the top 20 students in their respective classes, be involved in community activities and submit a written essay. Bice's Florist Scholarships will be presented annually to qualifying graduating seniors.

Caroline Sisco will attend the University of Texas at Austin to study mechanical engineering. Elizabeth Kinsey has been accepted at a number of top-ranked institutions, and plans to attend Duke University or Boston College. Her interests are in psychology and law.
