High School Students Sought for National Public Policy Debate

OKLAHOMA CITY, May 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Oklahoma Christian University (OC) is seeking 48 outstanding high school students from across the nation to participate in the first iDebate, August 3-8, on the OC campus in Oklahoma City. iDebate, which will be telecast nationally by Fox Broadcasting Company, seeks to "develop leaders who can solve problems and communicate solutions that will propel our world to greater peace, prosperity and respect." The winning students will receive a $2,500 scholarship to the university of their choice.

The program is being hosted by the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum, the National Center for Policy Analysis and the Academy of Leadership & Liberty.

iDebate is a five day leadership development camp for high school students who will be trained in strategic thinking, planning, communication, teamwork and persuasion. They will receive training from the National Center for Policy Analysis' professional analysts and debate coaches, university professors and university debate students. Students will work with General Franks and other nationally recognized leaders such as Dr. John Goodman and Dr. Nathan B. Mellor.

Applications are due May 16. Most expenses, including airfare, room and meals will be paid for by the sponsors. There is a $75 registration fee for participants. Students who wish to apply must submit a nomination form, application form, health information form, parental information form and a short video posted on facebook.com addressing a problem in their school or community. The nominees will be reviewed and the 48 most suitable candidates will be selected.
