Over 300 Applicants in the Socrates Project Free Lecture-Capture Software Program

PITTSBURGH, April 1, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Panopto, Inc. announced today that the number of qualified academic institutions applying for participation in the Socrates Project surpassed the 300 mark last week.

Announced in mid-December 2007, the Socrates Project makes Panopto's CourseCast lecture-capture software available free to universities, colleges and K-12 schools. In exchange for free access to the CourseCast platform, Socrates Project members participate in beta programs aimed at continually enhancing the technology. CourseCast was developed and first deployed at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
