Oakland Unified School District Partners With CPSI to Improve Network Access

COLUMBIA, Ill., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer Power Solutions of Illinois (CPSI), leading provider of data integration tools based on the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) standard, announced that it signed a partnership agreement with the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD). This partnership will enable OUSD to provide real-time network and e-mail account creation from data in their student information system (Aeries, Eagle Software) and human resources application (IFAS, Sungard-BiTech).

"We are looking forward to providing OUSD students and staff with an improved process for receiving OUSD network accounts. Using open standard such as SIF allows our teams to take advantage of the interoperability between our system resulting in expedited end-user account processing and improved service to OUSD students and staff," said Oswaldo Galarza, Information Technology Officer at OUSD.

CPSI will provide its suite of SIF-based solutions, consulting services and technical support to OUSD. The District will be implementing the following software solutions: SIF Connect Server, SIF Connect Universal Suite (UA), Visual CASEL SIF Agent for Active Directory/Exchange and VC-Lite.

OUSD began the implementation process with VC-Lite and student network account creation for over 41,000 students this summer. A second phase will follow with the creation of accounts for over 2,500 staff and teachers in the district. A third phase of the project will evaluate opportunities to use this software as a pilot with CSIS (California School Information Services) to automate the assignment of Unique Student Identifiers from CSIS to the district.
