Credit Transfer Agreements with Instituto Latino Americano and Instituto IMPACTO of Santa Cruz Bolivia

Credit Transfer Agreements with Instituto Latino Americano and Instituto IMPACTO of Santa Cruz Bolivia

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern Christian University (Universidad Cristiana del Sur, SCU) signed a Credit Transfer Agreement with Instituto Latino Americano and Instituto IMPACTO from Santa Cruz Bolivia effective June 2006 to offer a new intensive undergraduate major in Business, Education and Health Sciences.

This agreement will benefit students motivated to continue growing with a higher level of education, facilitating academic exchange, credit transfers and degree recognition. It will enhance research and the implementation of distance learning programs through Blended Learning modality and broaden educational opportunities and perspectives for both students and faculty.

Students who have completed a two or three-year Associate and Technical College Program will meet all general education requirements at SCU.

The Credit Transfer Agreement was created to simplify the transfer process for students from two or three-year Technical Programs to four-year degrees. The agreement stipulates that semester credit hours with a satisfactory GPA and compatible with SCU's general coursework guidelines will be granted smooth transferability and applied toward the student's general education requirements for the university-level program they enroll in.

Students who transfer from Instituto Latino Americano and Instituto IMPACTO to SCU will receive credit for those general studies courses specified under the Credit Transfer Agreement at the receiving institution. A student may transfer up to six semesters, without limitation on the number of credit hours, of undergraduate coursework in the areas of Business, Accounting, Management, Health Sciences and Social Sciences as general studies credits. The agreement establishes the coursework credit hours acceptable for transfer that will count toward the fulfillment of general studies requirements for a university-level degree. A student may even transfer credit for general studies courses that are not included under the agreement.

Furthermore, this agreement sets precedent for joint collaboration utilizing a systematic, multi-national system for comparing and contrasting academic and technological operations. This is exciting for Southern Christian University because the agreement helps to fulfill our vision as articulated in our strategic plan, which calls for the exchange of prestigious higher educational institutions worldwide.

Students from Instituto Latino Americano and Instituto IMPACTO will spend their senior semesters following rigorous undergraduate courses via SCU's distance learning system, studying alongside Asian students from the same international student body.
