CES Las Vegas -- Gigaset Communications today announces the launch of the Gigaset NetGuru(TM), a user-friendly software application designed to allow consumers to easily set-up, manage and troubleshoot home networks. Gigaset NetGuru enables consumers, from one easy-to-use-dashboard, to quickly connect an array of home communications devices to their home network.
The simple, icon-based user interface ensures a comprehensive overview at all times of the current status of all networked communication devices -- PCs, IP phones, printers, media streamers, media players and storage devices. With Gigaset NetGuru, monitoring security applications, including firewalls and antivirus programs, is a breeze, eliminating the need for "guesswork" for non-technical users. New network elements are automatically detected and appear on an easy-to-understand iconic network map.
Simple Error Diagnosis
In addition to making management of the home network easier, Gigaset NetGuru offers benefits for service providers. Interruptions in the connection between the computer and the broadband router or from the router to the Internet can be remedied with a simple mouse click -- NetGuru will attempt to solve the problem and re-establish the connection. If the problem can't be solved locally, NetGuru provides information-rich reports to help the user share all relevant information with the service provider. These precise error descriptions can drastically reduce down times and considerably increase customer satisfaction.
Configuring a Home Network the Easy Way
Gigaset NetGuru includes easy-to-use wizards for configuring wireless router security and making wireless connections to any available network. Additionally, NetGuru is tightly integrated with Gigaset IP phones, providing additional features and functions like copying the address book from one Gigaset handset to another, and backing-up or restoring from a PC. And, in addition to the Gigaset device portfolio, Gigaset NetGuru software supports network devices from most other manufacturers.
Availability
Gigaset NetGuru is now available to network operators and ISPs. Consumers can download a free 30-day trial version from the Gigaset home page at www.gigaset.com beginning March 2009. Full versions of NetGuru will be included with the purchase of select Gigaset IP phones and Gigaset routers and can also be purchased online beginning March 2009.
