AEgis Awarded Contract from CAE for 3D Models

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- AEgis Technologies Group, Inc. announced today that is has been awarded a contract from CAE USA to produce 3D visualization models for CAE's use on the US Navy MH-60R and SH-60B Tactical Operation Flight Trainers (TOFTs). The MH-60R TOFT model set will show non- U.S. vessels and aircraft, including UAVs, likely to be encountered by aircrews in both friendly and conflict scenarios.

The models produced by AEgis represent the out-the-window (OTW) views of the ships and other platforms, and must have all of the key geometric features necessary for visual recognition. The models must also have a standardized real-time interface implementation to include; optimized polygons and textures, articulated parts, multiple levels of detail (LODs), light points, and proper landing deck markings, in order to support high fidelity flight simulation. One of the more challenging aspects to the project is the research performed by AEgis in order to find sufficient images, drawings and other documentation necessary to produce accurate and detailed models of the target vessels required by the Navy.
