Eight Exhibitors to Demonstrate Revolutionary New Embedded Systems Technologies in the Disruption Zone at ESC Silicon Valley 2008; April 14-18 in San Jose

SAN FRANCISCO, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- TechInsights today announced the eight exhibitors that will showcase their new technologies in the Disruption Zone, at the 2008 Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) Silicon Valley, held April 14 - 18, 2008 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose.

These eight exhibitors were hand-selected by Embedded Systems Design editors after evaluating their technologies on the following criteria:

-- Ability to potentially deliver a 10x improvement in an aspect of
embedded design or embedded systems performance.
-- Ability to potentially change the competitive landscape and displace
       incumbents.
-- Ability to deliver their product or service to the field at or within
three months of ESC Silicon Valley (April 2008).

The exhibitors and their "disruptive technologies" include:
-- Taray, Inc., based in Palo Cedro, Calif., with research facilities in
Hyderabad, Ind., provides cutting-edge EDA tools to the FPGA and PCB
design community. Taray will showcase its flagship product, 7Circuits,
an FPGA I/O planning tool that automatically synthesizes FPGA pin
assignments based on user-defined PCB and device-level constraints.
-- NICTA Research, based in Australia, developed the world's first
model-checking based source code analyzer. Called Goanna, this analyzer
is able to automatically detect difficult to find bugs during
development and before testing, providing improved software quality at
       reduced costs.
-- Element CXI, based in Milpitas, Calif., a fables semiconductor company,
will be introducing the next generation programmable logic technology.
Element will deliver Software Defined platforms for Software Defined
Radio (SDR), Multi-Media codec's; and Communications that will enable a
wide range of devices to surf, stream and connect to IP-based media.
-- Samplify Systems, Inc., based in Santa Clara, Calif., a provider of
real-time compression solutions to solve I/O and storage bottlenecks in
embedded applications, has developed a Prism(TM) engine, available for
Windows and as IP for leading FPGAs, which provides lossless
compression on sampled data for medical (CT, ultrasound), wireless
(base stations, distributed antenna), industrial (ATE, test &
measurement), and defense (SIGINT, digital recorders).
-- Open Kernel Labs, based in Chicago, offers the most advanced hypervisor
technology for embedded systems and a breakthrough in the development
of secure and reliable embedded systems with its secure HyperCell(TM)
technology. OKL4 enables trustworthy virtualization and secure
componentization of embedded systems software by providing multiple
secure environments capable of hosting virtual machines, individual
applications, and user level device drivers. OKL4 offers the confidence
of proven technology -- that ships in millions of mobile/wireless and
consumer devices every month -- and the promise of formal verification
       of the OKL4 microkernel.
-- Sundance Digital Signal Processing, Inc., based in Reno, designs
multi-DSP/FPGA, and data acquisition modules and hardware. Sundance has
created PARS, the first Design Automation tool which lets you develop
applications in Simulink(R) before doing the rest and targeting the
underlying multi-DSP/FPGA hardware. Any Simulink(R) model can be mapped
to a multi-DSP/FPGA hardware and all the code for DSPs and FPGAs
generated automatically. With this cutting-edge tool, there is no need
to write any C or VHDL code. PARS generated applications include the
parallel hardware booting information, and all communications/
       synchronizations between processors.
-- FST, based in Australia and with a U.S. agent, will demonstrate
FancyPants (TM), the advanced graphics and high performance multimedia
platform for developing world leading embedded Linux applications in
consumer, commercial and industrial devices. With its highly developed
SDK and Object Oriented interface, FancyPants is used by developers to
easily create media rich applications. The FancyPants theming and
scripting features let designers create an eye catching look and feel
with dynamic layouts. The optimized FancyPants runtime ensures blazing
results with or without hardware acceleration. Unrivalled in its
efficiency and minimal resource requirements, FancyPants brings
previously unheard of graphics capabilities to embedded devices, while
at the same time reducing the actual hardware requirements.
-- TenAsys, based in Beaverton, Ore, developed the eVM(TM) software. The
software runs native RTOS and application guests alongside Windows
while maintaining full desktop feature set and real time performance.
A leader in its field, TenAsys is the longest lived supplier and leader
of virtualization software for embedded PC platforms.
