HERNDON, Va., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SteelCloud Inc.
(NASDAQ: SCLD)
, a developer and manufacturer of compliance-based technology solutions, announced today that the Uniformed Services University of Health the Sciences (USU) has implemented SteelWorks(R) FedMobile in conjunction with receiving audit approval from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). SteelWorks(R) FedMobile is SteelCloud's STIG-compliant BlackBerry(R) Enterprise Server appliance.
USU serves as the Nation's Federal health sciences university producing health professionals dedicated to career service in the Department of Defense (DoD) and the United States Public Health Service. As with all agencies within the DoD, USU has a mandate to conform to certain DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides or "STIGs." DISA has completed an audit of USU's operational SteelWorks(R) FedMobile environment and determined that it is in compliance with DoD Instruction 8500.2 and the BlackBerry Wireless, Windows Server 2003, and .NET Framework STIGs.
"Bringing information technology systems, like the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, into compliance with DoD security mandates is critical to protecting this country's sensitive information and infrastructures," said Robert E. Frick, SteelCloud CEO. "Conforming to the various DoD STIGS, however, is an expensive and time-consuming task. We applaud the leadership at USU for spearheading the DISA audit process for SteelWorks(R) FedMobile and as a result, all DoD organizations can now realize the benefits of a far simpler and more cost effective way to bring their current BlackBerry environments into immediate compliance."
SteelCloud is a member of the BlackBerry(R) Solution Provider Program and is the only company offering this BlackBerry(R) STIG compliant solution.
