Psion Teklogix First to Achieve AT&T 3G Network Certification for Rugged Mobile Devices: Ikon and WORKABOUT PRO

CINCINNATI, April 1, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- CTIA Booth #5033 -- Psion Teklogix LSE: PON.L, www.psionteklogix.com, a global provider of wireless computing solutions, today announced that its two flagship mobile devices, the Ikon PDA and WORKABOUT PRO, are the first rugged mobile computers to offer simultaneous voice and data capabilities on AT&T's 3G broadband network. AT&T's 3G network incorporates Universal Mobile Telephone System (UMTS) and High Speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA) technologies with download speeds of as fast as 15 seconds for a 1MB file. Ikon and WORKABOUT PRO users of AT&T's 3G technologies can more quickly collect and interact with a range of high- bandwidth data, including video, pictures and graphics, giving them an unprecedented level of speed and mobility.

Psion Teklogix' Ikon and WORKABOUT PRO open a range of new mobile applications designed to accelerate business productivity and growth. Field service professionals, for example, can view a customer's service history, data-rich schematic drawings, and order service parts instantaneously over AT&T's high speed 3G network. In direct store delivery applications, multiple shipments can be picked up, dropped at the appropriate store, and new orders can be communicated wirelessly before the delivery person gets back in his or her vehicle. By adding a wireless invoicing capability, billing time for new orders can be significantly decreased resulting in faster turnaround on accounts receivable.

The Ikon's and WORKABOUT PRO's network capability can also improve "payment on site," where high levels of data and encryption need to be communicated and authenticated rapidly, as well as transportation and logistics applications requiring multiple partner data transfer in real time.

"Teaming with AT&T and achieving 3G mobile certification for our devices in North America on the most sophisticated mobile broadband network gives customers the speed and reliability they need to deliver faster transactions and better service," said Ron Caines, president, Americas at Psion Teklogix.

Psion Teklogix' Ikon PDA combines ergonomics and aesthetics, along with integrated voice, data and camera technologies into a small, easy-to-use rugged device. The company's WORKABOUT PRO features flexible ergonomics, a user-friendly interface, and is IP65 rated for water and dust resistance, and can withstand multiple 5-foot drops to concrete. Both devices simultaneously support WWAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity, and come with a choice of Microsoft Windows operating systems.

The AT&T 3G network-powered Ikon and WORKABOUT PRO are available in North America from both AT&T and Psion Teklogix. For more information, visit www.psionteklogix.com.
