Two Opticon mobile computers certified for CCX V4
ORANGEBURG, N.Y., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Opticon Inc. (http://www.opticonusa.com) today announced a strategic alliance with Summit Data Communications, the leading provider of embedded wireless LAN solutions for mobile computers. Opticon mobile computers with Summit Wi-Fi(R) inside have been certified for Version 4 of Cisco Compatible Extensions, or CCX.
"Summit designs its embedded Wi-Fi solutions to meet the stringent requirements of rugged mobile computers," said Larry Lehmann, National Sales Manager of Opticon. "With Summit Wi-Fi inside, Opticon mobile computers provide the best security, the most reliable wireless network connectivity, and the easiest Wi-Fi administration available."
With Cisco products in nearly two-thirds of enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructures, organizations of all sizes and types demand that their mobile computers pass CCX V4 testing and earn the Cisco Compatible seal. That seal indicates interoperability with Cisco's flagship Wi-Fi infrastructure solution, the Cisco Unified Wireless Network, and support for a rich set of Cisco Wi-Fi innovations.
"Users and administrators of business-critical mobile devices place a high value on CCX," said Ron Seide, Summit's president. "We engineer CCX V4 support into every one of our radios so that they provide full support of Cisco enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructures, including features for enhanced voice, improved quality of service, centralized administration, and robust security."
Two Opticon mobile computers with Summit Wi-Fi inside - the PHL-8000 rugged PDA and the H 15 Windows terminal - will earn the Cisco Compatible seal this month. These devices will be generally available worldwide by the end of the first quarter.
In addition to being certified for CCX V4, Summit Wi-Fi solutions support all key industry standards, including the top industry standard for Wi-Fi security, known as the Enterprise version of Wi-Fi Protected Access(TM) 2, or WPA2-Enterprise.
"With Summit Wi-Fi inside, Opticon mobile computers support WPA2-Enterprise with a broad range of options, including all popular authentication types," said Seide. "It is easy to configure Opticon mobile computers for even the most secure networks, including those that are compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)."
